BenQ LU951ST Short Throw Projector High Brightness Review

New ST projector from BenQ offers performance & versatility for offices & venues. (4/12/18)

BenQ LU951ST - Features extremely high brightness through BlueCore laser, outstanding image quality and long-lasting performance.

The new laser light source means you won't be changing lamps all the time, faster warm up and cool down times, less heat thus fan noise too.
With traditional lamps you have to be careful that you allow the projector to run the cool down sequence also power surges can kill off lamps.
This type of laser (diode, similar to laser pointers but way more powerful) light source tends to be very resilient and very reliable.

Being a Short Throw projector the LU951ST can produce a massive image in a short distance,
that's to say you can mount it close to the projection site which also increases image efficiency.

You see it but you still don't know how.

The wall in the image below is light beige in colour, the office is lit, it's daytime... So how come you see black in the image?
This is how high brightness fools your eyes (brain actually) into seeing black when the wall is almost white and projectors can't project black.

The high brightness also makes it hard to show you the wall colour which is much lighter than the image shows.

The 7 gray bars are the same in both images!

The right hand image is the same as the left, less the black bars.. Above, only difference is how YOU perceived the brightness. That's what we mean by "Real World" we don't get carried away with specifications that just add zeros onto last year's claims.  Specifications often have little relationship to how people watch movies and TV etc. in conditions encountered in the Real World.
